The EU F-Gas Regulation imposes obligations on operators of stationary equipment containing HFC’s. These came into effect in July 2007, but some obligations required detailed clarification from the EU Commission.

This clarification on the interpretation the “operator” now requires you as the operator of a system containing HFC refrigerant to:

• To prevent leakage and ensure leakage checks are carried out at defined intervals.
• To ensure that personnel involved in installation, maintenance, servicing, containment and recovery activities hold appropriate qualifications.
• To maintain records on the quantity and type of fluorinated greenhouse gases installed, and any quantities added and the quantities recovered during servicing, maintenance and final disposal. These records must be available to a competent authority on demand.
